Making music is a visual process. Something pops into my head -- a person, place, or thing -- then I try to translate it sonically. The demo for this was titled "Armored Elephants" which might make sense to you in retrospect.
The intro lick was inspired by "Halfway Home" by Tommy Emmanuel, an amazing person, composer, and all-around player. It sounds nothing like it, but a keen ear will spot the similarities.
The outro lead was played on a diddley-bo made from scratch. I was introduced to this instrument at the Clarksdale, Mississippi blues museum. Basically, you tension a single guitar string across a glass bottle and slap a pickup under it. It's played using a slide, which achieved the timbre of a trumpeting elephant.
